In his recent study, “The Rise of Digital Influence – a ‘how-to’ guide for businesses to spark desirable effects and outcomes through social media influence,” Altimeter Group Principal Analyst Brian Solis warns brands not to rely on scores without understanding how influence is actually created and used.
Many of these services score people based on what they do and say in social networks. Some, such as Klout and Kred, claim that the score is a measure of influence. Others, such as Peer Index and mBlast, state that the score represents topical authority within social media. So what does it really mean?
